Exposition
Assignment
As part of the minor Advanced Prototyping, I worked in a multidisciplinary team with Bram Germes, Floor Klapwijk, Marijn Peslma, Vera Meertens and Vladimir Petkov to design and create an exhibition in collaboration with the TU Delft Library. Our assignment was to make a prototype fort the Collection Wall that uses emerging technologies to offer users a 21st-century vitrine experience.
The result
The final prototype features two displays connected by the theme “Lost” and can be visited in the TU Delft Library. One display showcases instruments from the “lost faculty” of Geodesy, including a theodolite on a motorized pedestal with interactive information about land surveying. The second display highlights a chess challenger in a “magic box,” featuring a holographic chess game that reflects the simplicity lost to modern AI. Both displays incorporate interactive and tactile elements to engage visitors.

The Process
During the project the focus was on prototyping; I learned laser cutting and worked a lot with tools like 3D printing and painting. The project consisted of a lot of experimenting, brainstorming, testing, and iterating. Which was an incredibly fun and educational experience. During this period, I learned so much, found inspiration in museums, conducted countless user tests, and spent a lot of hours in the university’s workshop. Each day began with a team meeting to plan and discuss our tasks for the day.
